A Tiring Day….
but fun-filled. Today, we went for the homeschoolers weekly gathering at the Jurong Bird Park. There were 8 mummies and 12 kids. The sky was overcast when we reached there, and I quickly sent a prayer up for good weather. We managed to catch the Hawk Show before it started to pour. It was chaos, with 8 mummies carrying their kids and pushing strollers running to find shelter. We eventually settled at the covered playground area. The area was quite nice with tables and chairs for us. Despite the rain, we had a wonderful time there. All the mummies have a good time chatting with one another over lunch, and the kids ran wild at the playground. I was glad to get to know more homeschooling mummies, and Sarah had a fun time making new friends. I think she enjoyed herself most with Malcom and Hannah. When we left the place, both Sarah and Hannah were holding hands and refused to let go. We stayed at the playground for a good 2 hours. We left to watch the Parrot Show. Sarah and I left for home after the show as Sarah was getting tired and I needed to rest too as I have a musical to catch later tonight. The rest of the group stayed to watch another bird show.
Now that I have decided to homeschool Sarah, I find it good to belong to a support group of HS moms. Not only do the kids get to socialise with one another, the mummies can find encouragement, support and ideas from each other. Like today, we managed to discuss some opportunities to organise a gym class and Chinese speech and drama for our little ones. Also, it is very encouraging to hear of other moms’ HS experience and how the Lord had helped them through it.
Later in the night, I went to watch “The Phantom of the Opera” with a friend. It was a great performance and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The last time I watched a musical was 3 years ago in Sydney just before Sarah was born. I would have enjoyed myself even more had I not been worrying about Sarah. I was worried if she will be able to sleep as she always need me to put her to bed. Turned out that she waited up for me despite being very tired. Looks like it will be a long time before I have a night outing again. I don’t wish for her to stay up so late waiting for me, and it is also quite difficult for whoever is looking after her that night.
