World Book Fair 2007
We just came back from the book fair at Suntec City, and both father and daugther are in slumberland now. The book fair itself was not crowded, it was the human traffic down at the ground level. They just set up the Food Republic food court down at the ground level which had took up the space previously available for human traffic going up to the exhibition halls, so it was a real squeeze.

What Makes A Mother
Came across this very meaningful poem. It brought tears to my eyes.
I thought of you and closed my eyes
And prayed to God today
I asked “What makes a Mother?”
And I know I heard him say.
“A Mother has a baby”
This we know is true
“But God can you be a Mother,
when your baby is not with you?”
“Yes, you can,” He replied
with confidence in his voice
“I give many women babies,
when they leave is not their choice.
Some I send for a lifetime,
and others for the day.
And some I send to feel your womb,
but there’s no need to stay.”
“I just don’t understand this God
I want my baby to be here.”
He took a deep breath and cleared his throat,
and then I saw the tear.
“I wish I could show you
what your child is doing today.
If you could see your child’s smile,
with all the other children and sayÅ
“We go to Earth to learn our lessons,
of love and life and fear.
My Mommy loved me oh so much,
I got to come straight here.
I feel so lucky to have a Mom,
who had so much love for me.
I learned my lessons very quickly,
My Mommy set me free.
I miss my Mommy oh so much,
but I visit her every day.
When she goes to sleep,
on her pillow’s were I lay
I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek
and whisper in her ear.
“Mommy don’t be sad today,
I’m your baby and I’m here.’”
“So you see my dear sweet ones,
your children are okay.
Your babies are born here in My home,
and this is where they’ll stay.
They’ll wait for you with Me,
until your lesson’s through.
and on the day that you come home
they’ll be at the gate for you.
So now you see what makes a Mother,
it’s the feeling in your heart.
It’s the love you had so much of
right from the very start
Though some on Earth may not realise,
you are a Mother
until their time is done.
they’ll be up here with Me one day
and know that you are the best one!”

The First Time
This evening, we were at the supermarket shopping for groceries. The little gal was in a very happy and cuddly mood. She kept running to me, shouting loudly “Mommy” and hugging my legs. I was engrossed with browsing the shelves for the stuff I needed, so I just responded with a simple “Yes…”, not really giving her my attention. Just then hubby asked “Do you remember the first time she called you Mommy. We should always treat this as the first time.”
It was a very good reminder from hubby. I was too busy shopping to pay any attention to my daughter who had called out to me so affectionately and enthusiatically. How often were we so caught up with our busy work that we have neglected to pay attention to our children, or have taken for granted some very simple pleasures in life, such as a lovely “Mommy” from your child? Yet not so long ago, we were eagerly waiting for their first words, or their first “mommy” or “daddy”.
So the next time your child calls out to you, or comes to you with eager questions, be sure to respond as if it is their first. I sure will.

Back From Break
It has been 3 weeks since my last post. Nothing happened, just that I could not find any inspiration to write. The weather had been quite hot recently which made me feel like not doing anything, and I am now down with a very bad bout of flu. Have lost my sense of taste and smell, and my ears are blocked, and my voice sounds nasal. Not a very good feeling.
I am back to writing. May not be very frequent, just as and when something interesting comes up.

Another Fun-filled weekend
We had another fun-filled day yesterday. The little girl had been asking to go to a cow farm this whole week. As we had just been to the farms recently, I was not keen for another farm trip. So where did we go to satisfy the little girl’s wish? The Zoo again. We are Friends of the Zoo, so the place is our first choice whenever Sarah asks to see animals.
